Why Organize?

I could share with you many reasons why I organize, why I love organizing, and why I have chosen organizing as my career... but I know we are all so different and we all have our strengths, so sharing with you why I love to organize probably won't resonate with anyone else in quite the same way. However...there are universal benefits to getting organized and living an organized life that are not partial to those more naturally inclined.

Studies have shown that clutter can have a huge impact on our mental well being. Clutter can impact depression, stress, weight gain, and personal relationships. Here are some very compelling reasons behind why organizing is so important:
Gretchen Rubin always says, "Outer Order, Inner Calm.” The environment we live in is truly a reflection of our mind and a cluttered space = a cluttered mind. Life is chaotic. Life as a mom is chaotic. With all the messes, chaos, and busy-ness... having systems in place is essential to thriving.

Organizing creates a sense of renewal. I love the word Reset. It is a fresh start and a new beginning, and it is human nature to want to feel that excitement and change.

An organized home reduces stress and anxiety. It is something we can control while so many things in life are out of our control. The process might not bring peace and reduce stress for everyone like it does for me... but the end result does.

Living in an organized space improves relationships while clutter and disorganization can affect relationships for the worse.

Living in an organized home increases productivity and frees up time and energy to focus on other areas of life. When minimal time is spent looking for things, time can be spent elsewhere.

Organization saves money. Have you ever not been able to find a food item or something else you know is somewhere in your pantry? When you always know exactly where everything goes, you won't buy duplicates or let food go to waste.

I thought this last line item was super interesting. Studies have shown that living in a more organized space improves food choices and that there is a correlation between excess weight and clutter.
Have you seen how organization affects you in any of these ways? I can give an emphatic AMEN to every one of these points.
