The best kept secret for getting gift wrapping done throughout the months leading up to Christmas and not saving it all for December 24th is to have a wrapping station. Creating a wrapping station that is easy to access and easy to keep organized can make a huge difference in your holiday season.
Whether it’s a caddy or a cart, having all the supplies at the ready is handy for multiple quick wrapping sessions. Here are some of my favorite gift wrap organization ideas and systems that you can use in your own home:
Wrapping Station Ideas
1. Elfa Door Organizer
Take advantage of the vertical space in your home, especially if you're limited on space. If you have a closet door, you may want to try out the Elfa Door Organizer from the Container Store. When everything is stored upright, it’s so much easier to see and access whatever you need. There's a space specifically for storing wrapping paper standing up, a utility board with hooks for organizing ribbon, tape, tags, and bags, and a removable mesh basket.
2. Utility Cart
I love utility carts because of how versatile they are. I've used them for art supplies but you can also use them for organizing your Christmas wrapping supplies! You can roll the cart to wherever you want to do your wrapping, whether it’s the kitchen table, living room couch, or on your bed.
3. Caddy
If you don't have enough supplies to fill a cart or don't have room for a cart, try using a caddy instead! It's great to have all of your go-to supplies (scissors, tape, pens, tags, etc.) gathered together in one place. It also creates the flexibility of wrapping wherever I want: on the ping pong table while my kids are watching a Christmas movie, on the dining room table while listening to a podcast, or on my bed while watching a Hallmark special.
4. Large Floor Basket
If you have a craft room, a room where you do all of your gift wrapping, or if you love collecting lots of different types of wrapping paper, try using large floor baskets to keep things organized. You can then keep your wrapping paper in or next to the closet with the rest of your supplies. If you have trouble finding a floor basket that's tall and narrow enough, you can even use a trash can or clothes hamper instead.
5. Under Bed Bins
If you don’t have a storage space or wrapping closet, a great way to store wrapping paper out of the way is with storage bins that can slide underneath a bed. It will be easy to take out when it's time to wrap gifts and then tuck it all away and out of sight when you're done.
6. White Slap Bracelets
This is one of my favorite simple tricks for keeping wrapping paper from getting unrolled and damaged. Use slap bracelets! They're easy to slap on, they don't slide off, and they're easy to remove without ripping the paper.
7. Wrapping Paper Storage Bag
If you don’t want your Christmas wrapping paper out all year long, you can always use a wrapping paper storage bag to protect the paper from damage and tuck it away in your garage or storage room.
